Why Ash for Horse Fencing Rails?
Ash is a dense, hard hardwood — significantly harder than pine or spruce. Its hardness makes it more resistant to chewing by horses compared to softer wood species, helping your fence last longer with less damage.
For fence posts (ground contact): We recommend cedar posts, which are naturally rot-resistant and ideal for direct ground contact. Ash is best used for the rails and boards above ground.
